After what may have been one of my busiest few weeks, here’s a rundown of my deliveries, spanning four national parks in the UK within a single week.
Starting from RWT’s headquarters in the New Forest National Park, my journey took me to Dartmoor National Park, then up to Lake District National Park, followed by a visit to North Moor National Park in North Yorkshire, before finally returning to base in the New Forest. It was an exceptional week, filled with breathtaking sunrises over verdant fields and landscapes, covering a total of 1,800 miles and making the journey a true pleasure.
The previous week began with the collection of a stunningly restored 1952 Series 1 Land Rover from Worcester, transported on RWT’s open tri-axle car trailer on the driest day possible. This beauty was destined for export to the Channel Islands via GTS Transport and Shipping.
Then back to the yard to swap over to the enclosed car trailer to collect a 1966 Mercedes 230SL Pagoda from Poole and deliver to Colin Ferns Ltd the Mercedes specialist’s to work their magic and refresh body and mechanical side ready for the owner to clock up some summer miles
Next on the list was a trip to Peterborough to retrieve a 1961 Jaguar IX from a garage where it had been stored for over 30 years. With a fascinating history of ownership within the same family, this gem was headed for the Channel Islands for mechanical refurbishment before being enjoyed in its unrestored state.
Back at base, I loaded a stunning 1999 Land Rover Defender onto the open tri-axle car trailer from a local specialist near Cambridge, destined for export to its owner in Sydney, Australia, who would soon be cruising around the city in style.
Then began my four-day journey through four national parks.

Starting with a drive to Torquay from my base in the New Forest, I collected a charming 1929 Ford Model A pickup truck, bound for its new owner to complete its restoration near Lake Windermere in the Lake District.
Crossing the county to North Yorkshire, I picked up a 1999 Volvo 940, a true time capsule of a car that brought back memories of my mother’s own Volvos. Its sturdy build was a testament to Volvo’s reputation, and transporting it felt like having a small tank in my trailer as I made my way back to Salisbury.
And with that, the past few weeks come to a close. After a few days of rest, I’ll be back on the road, hitting the tarmac! Until the next one, drive safe everyone!
